The need for industrial acoustics include a wide array of noise barrier products and noise absorption products. The ultimate in cost-effective sound abatement within the industrial market is our Acoustic Blankets or Curtains. Stop noise in it's tracks and prevent sound from traveling around rooms by fastening to walls. Prevent noise traveling through ceiling structures by hanging as baffles. Isolate noise around equipment with standard and custom enclosures. Durable enough for heavy construction, industrial in-plant noise abatement and community / outdoor applications and more. We even have the infamous acoustical blanket as a door cover

Excessive noise is one of the most common workplace hazards in industrial facilities. Prolonged exposure to noise in manufacturing, power generation, printing and other industries can result in compromised verbal communication, fatigue, lower productivity and work-related hearing loss. Manufacturing areas are not the only places where noise can be hazardous and counterproductive. Offices that share walls with factories or are subjected to outside noise from highways or airports face similar noise problems. In such environments, uncontrolled sound can interfere with the intended purpose of the space, resulting in hampered interpersonal communication, headaches and other problems.

ArtUSA Noise Control Products Inc. offers many durable choices to easily and affordably create a healthier work environment. Noise control entails suppressing audible kinetic energy in two ways, and the most effective solutions may require a combination of the two:

  1. Containing noise with enclosures and or barrier materials

  2. Absorbing noise with panels, baffles and other acoustical absorber products.

ArtUSA Noise Control Products Inc. offers flexible and rigid enclosure systems. Curtains are flexible and can either be used independently or as part of an enclosure system. Custom-configured enclosures can be made from a combination of products to produce an effective and economical method of noise reduction. Options include rooftop panels, grommets, view windows, sliding hinged and overhead doors, silencers, exhaust fans and more.Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) is the average of the absorption coefficients at the most common frequencies (250, 500, 1000 and 2000 Hz.) The NRC is often used to compare the acoustical performance of various materials. Sound Transmission Class (STC) is a measurement of how much noise is stopped by a barrier or enclosure. It is an approximation of how much noise, in decibels, will be stopped by the material, assuming an airtight seal around the noise source. Sabin is a unit of sound absorption based on one square foot of material. Baffles are frequently described as providing x number of sabins of absorption based on the size of the baffle tested, through the standard range of frequencies (125-4000 Hz.)

Reducing noise levels in commercial offices can be achieved by utilizing a variety of materials. Wall and ceiling mounted acoustic panels, hanging baffles and high performance ceiling tiles are commonly utilized to improve speech intelligibility and sound quality within commercial office environments. Call centers, conference rooms and open floor plan office settings require different noise absorption surfaces to achieve acceptable sound levels. ArtUSA Noise Control Products, Inc. can provide cost effective sound solutions.

Manufacturing Environments Application Profile

Excessive noise is one of the most common workplace hazards in industrial facilities. Prolonged exposure to noise in manufacturing, power generation, printing and other industries can result in compromised verbal communication, fatigue, lower productivity and work- related hearing loss.Manufacturing areas are not the only places where noise can be hazardous and counterproductive. In such environments, uncontrolled sound can interfere with the intended purpose of the space, resulting in hampered interpersonal communication, headaches and other problems.

Acoustical Panels, Curtains and Baffles offer many durable choices to easily and affordably create a healthier work environment.

Basic principles of noise control

Noise control entails suppressing audible kinetic energy in two ways, and the most effective solutions may require a combination of the two:

  1. Containing noise with barrier materials and enclosures
  2. Absorbing noise with panels, baffles and other acoustical foam products

Industrial Noise Control Industrial noise control is a growing concern in factories, industrial sites, manufacturing and mining facilities. The goal for industrial noise control is to promote hearing conservation while reducing noise levels for personnel to protect employees from hearing loss and increase industrial safety within the facilities. Companies are required to comply with industrial safety noise levels within OSHA or other governmental or insurance agency requirements. Enclosures and machinery enclosures are a very common treatment for industrial noise control requirements. Acoustical Solutions custom fabricates all of their industrial enclosures to meet the requirements of the environment that it is going into. The acoustical and machinery enclosures are typically made from sound blankets. These are very durable vinyl quilted blankets that can be suspended or floor mounted to form any type of industrial enclosure. Metal machinery enclosures are also available. our removable acoustic steel sound enclosure specifically for noise attenuation for PD Blowers (Positive Displacement Blowers). Our sound enclosure is designed if your specification is needed for below 85 dBA (decibels), a community property line concern, or any other high level of sound reduction. Our sound enclosures for PD Blowers have measured 60-80% quieter during before and after equipment installations. Features include an independent frame system, removable, modular acoustic steel panels, silenced air intake and exhaust fan. Company’s such as Dresser, Roots, Gardner Denver have utilized our blower package sound enclosures for their rotary positive blower. Our sound attenuation cabinet offers flexibility to remove panels with quarter-turn retainers. All these features create easy maintenance and durability over time for our sound package.

Office Designs for Noise Reduction Proper office design will factor in the sound levels within the office space and determine where office noise reduction materials are needed. Office noise reduction requires the use of absorptive materials to reduce sound levels within the office space. Fabric wrapped and tackable sound absorbing wall panels are commonly used in office design. Soundproofing products such as sound barriers and door seals can also be used in office deign to increase privacy and security in executive offices, treatment rooms and conference rooms. Office spaces with good acoustical conditions result in higher employee productivity and a happier, more efficient office environment.

Application

The control of noise in industry is very important. There have been sharp increases in worker compensation claims for hearing damage, and legislative, safety and economic requirements make a noise reduction program essential for many industries.

To meet these requirements and to help solve many in-plant noise problems, ArtUSA Noise Control manufactures a complete line of acoustical panels which can be quickly and easily assembled to provide complete or partial enclosures for noisy equipment or to provide a quiet office in a manufacturing area. These panels are designed to provide optimum noise control through sound absorption and sound transmission loss. Enclosures can be sized to meet your requirements.

Standard S-25, S-45, and S-65 panels are fabricated with outer skins of 18 gauge galvanized steel and inner skins of 22 gauge perforated galvanized steel. Panels are stiffened with 18 gauge steel channels. Sound absorption is provided by 2.5 to 6 pcf fiberglass or mineral wool depending on the application. Standard panels are nominally 2" or 4" thick, but optional 1" and 6" panels are available to meet special requirements. 2" panels are rated at STC 37 and NRC .95, 4" panels are rated at STC 40 and NRC 1.00.

Enclosures can be designed with doors, windows, access panels and removable panels. Doors are equipped with heavy-duty hardware and with seals to prevent noise leakage. Window panels are framed and sealed units utilizing 1/4" safety and/or wire reinforced glass. If constant access to the equipment is needed, removable panels can be incorporated in the enclosure design.

HVAC Installations

The control of noise in modern buildings due to air-conditioning is a normal procedure in most projects. Kinetics designs and manufactures a complete line of pressure enclosures for Heating, Ventilating and Air-Conditioning installations. Our panel enclosures are designed to be erected in the field. They are designed to provide thermal and optimum noise control through sound absorption and sound transmission loss.

Industrial Installations

Claims for hearing damage, safety and economic requirements make a noise reduction program essential for many industries. In the past, many manufacturing facilities were regulated by a government agency such as OSHA, but today the vast majority of noise regulation is driven by insurance companies who seek to keep claims for hearing damage to a minimum for the facilities they insure.

Business and Meeting Rooms

Business Offices have several types of spaces that would benefit from attention to acoustics, including:

Open plan offices

Meeting rooms

Meeting rooms with teleconferencing

Open-Plan Offices

Open-plan offices are the exact opposite of concert halls. A concert hall is for enhancing soft sounds for concentrated listening at a distance. In an open-plan office, on the other hand, you don’t want to hear a pin drop; you want to be able to not hear your colleague on the phone. This is achieved by acres of acoustical tile and intentional background noise. The background noise can be the HVAC system, or it can be intentionally installed electronically generated pink noise.

Meeting Rooms

Meeting rooms are rooms for discussion and dialogue (including classrooms). Size and background noise should be the first priority for designing these spaces. The number of people may necessitate a certain size, but minimizing the size will almost always be acoustically beneficial. How much acoustical difficulty is encountered in an intimate living room? None.

There is more meeting than hanging acoustical tile. In particular, to optimize conversation among a large group of people, it is necessary to completely exclude background noise.

Teleconferencing

Teleconferencing rooms are an extension of the ordinary meeting room. These rooms can be used for ordinary meetings, but participants can be brought in from the outside electronically. This participation may be one way, in the form of an audio-visual presentation, or it may include dialogue with people whose physical location may be virtually anywhere. The acoustical requirements for these rooms are very stringent because the quality of the distant connection may vary, as anyone who has had a conversation involving a speakerphone is aware. The key is to create ideal conditions for speech within the room so that conditions within the room will interfere as little as possible with conditions between rooms. The three conditions for ideal speech intelligibility are:

elimination of background noise;

very low reverberation;

diffuse sound reflections to support the speaking voice.

One key to optimizing electronic communication between rooms is to avoid amplification within each room. Excellent acoustics within each room makes this possible
